Why we were contracted
AMC was contracted by Vercity (then HCP) due to our specialist knowledge of lifecycle costing and whole life cost management of PFI assets. We were contracted into the team to assist them in the development of a bottom-up lifecycle model for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich. The model would be based on a number of condition surveys carried out for the project and also site visits and management information obtained by AMC from the site team. We were tasked with working with surveyors to ensure survey data collected was suitable for the lifecycle model inputs and then translated that data, along with other information available, into a meaningful reportable lifecycle model.
At the time of the contract, Vercity were carrying out a similar project on another one of their hospitals under management, using one of our competitors. During this particularly busy period, we were able to provide a hands-on service working closely with the existing team to deliver the outcomes of our task on time and to the specification required by the management team. We were able to provide a pragmatic approach that was not restricted to the immediate results of the condition survey, but that applied a working knowledge of individual asset replacements against the overall hospital maintenance regime and strategic replacement plans in place at the time. Our model provided management with a long term (18 year) asset replacement forecast and a considered budget to ensure that the handback obligations at the end of term, would be met according to authority requirements.
